Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine elected members of the High Council of Justice of Ukraine

According to the results of secret ballot Counting commission Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has decided to assume as appointed members of the High Council of Justice lawyer Alexei Vladimirovich Malovatskoho and judge Mamontova Irina. First candidate was supported by 261 deputies (necessary minimum - 226 votes), the second candidate - 269 deputies.

Candidacy of Mamontova Irina was proposed by “Narodnyj front” to the High Council of and the  candidate of Malovatskyj – by bloc of Petro Poroshenko.

The candidature of the third member of the High Council of Justice Supreme Council had agreed three other factions of the coalition - "Batkivshchyna", "Samopomich" and "Radical Party" - but they refused to nominate as they are against the quota principle. 

The High Council of Justice consists of twenty members. Parliament, the President of Ukraine, the Congress of Judges, the Congress of Advocates of Ukraine, the Congress of Representatives of Higher Legal Educational and Scientific Institutions appointed to the HCJ three members. Two members of the High Council of Justice appoints the national conference of prosecutors. Also included ex officio President of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, Minister of Justice and General prosecutor of the country.
